Description

Printed map. Cartographer uncertain, probably John Thomson & Co. "T. Clerk Sculpt." Two visual scales [93 mm=30 statute miles]. Includes 2 inset maps: The harbour of Bluefields and The harbours of Kingston and Port Royal. Described in Kapp, The Printed Maps of Jamaica up to 1825, entry 145, p. 35: "From A New General Atlas, Edinburgh, 1814 [plate No. 62]. Other editions were issued in 1816, 1817, 1821 and 1827 usually marked 'Drawn & Enlarged for Thomson's New General Atlas' and the map enlarged to 23 1/2 x 19 1/2 ins." McMaster's copy is the smaller size, dated 1814.
