Map shows forests, fortifications, rivers, marshes, roads, and buildings. On verso: a Robert Clifford bookplate. Acquired as part of the Lord Cholmondeley Collection.
The map covers an area roughly from the border of Belgium in the northwest to the region of Hesse in the northeast and from the Lorraine region of France in the southwest to the region of Wurttemberg in the southeast. The current city of Mainz is approximately at the center of the map as is the Rhine River which figures prominently running from top to bottom.
