Xanten, Engineer Overprint [Operation Veritable--Hochwald Forest], December 1944
Description
Rhineland Campaign--Operation Veritable. Engineer overprint produced by the Royal Canadian Engineers in preparation for the clearing of German troops from the Hochwald Forest (February 8-20, 1945) and breaking the Siegfried Line (February 21, 1945). The map shows detail related to roads, bridges and anti-tank ditches. This map was originally held by the Department of Defence, and was acquired by the Laurier Military History Archive (LMH) from the Directorate of History and Heritage, Government of Canada, in the 1990s. Digitization and georeferencing of the map was performed at the University of Waterloo.
