This aerial photograph was taken of the undeveloped site for the proposed Mount Hope Airport in November of 1939. The construction of the airport was prompted by the outbreak of World War II and the need for air crew training facilities for the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan in Canada. Stamped on verso: "Ontario Dept. of Lands & Forests, Division of Surveys and Engineering, Aerial Surveys Section."
