Front: No caption: The photo shows a group of military officers in dress whites, probably English, marching in front of a catafalque holding the body of Prime Minister Dr. Sun Yat Sen, presumably as it is being transferred by 120 professional pallbearers to the Peking [Beijing] railway station from Piyunssu [Pinggu], China. One of the marcher's has an x marked as explained in the note on back of card. Sun Yat-sen was a Chinese revolutionary, first president and founding father of the Republic of China, and medical practitioner. He died of liver cancer on March 12, 1925. He was laid to rest initially in PIYUNSSU, CHINA. 4 years later in April 1929, the Chinese government appointed He Yingqin to be in charge of laying Dr. Sun to rest. On 26 May, a procession, that this photo depicts, began in PIYUNSSU, CHINA. To the Peking train station. The coffin departed from Beijing, and on 28 May, it arrived in Nanjing. On 1 June, 1929, Dr. Sun was buried there in a national tomb.
