Described in Chubb, Printed Maps in the Atlases of Great Britain and Ireland 1579-1870, entry CCLVI, p. 208-209: "A very fine atlas consisting of an engraved title-page and fifty-seven maps.... The maps are clearly engraved, the roads being a prominent feature. In some cases they are printed two on a page, and in that case the numbers are bracketed in the list. The title is given outside the border at the top of each map, and begins: 'Bowles's reduced map of,'...." Acquired as part of the Banks Collection.
