Description
Printed map. One of 3 segments, possibly globe gores, which together cover the continent of South America from the Equator south to approximately 44°S. The map segment is 47 cm in length, 28 cm wide at the north end and 18 cm wide at the south end. Assembled globe diameter would be approximately 340 cm. Prime meridian is Ferro. Includes text and illustrations, with one particularly elaborate illustration with text along the southern edge. Described in Dahl and Gauvin's Sphæræ Mundi, "Vincenzo Maria Coronelli's Terrestrial Globe, 1688", p. 131-134. Acquired as part of the Banks Collection.
