Septemtrionaliora Americæ à Groenlandia, per Freta Davidis et Hudson, ad Terram Novam
Description
Printed map. Visual scales. Described in Kershaw, Early Printed Maps of Canada, vol. I, entry 211, p. 198: "Published in: Atlas de la Navigation, et du Commerce qui se fait dans toutes les parties du monde. 1715, 1739... There are no cartographic changes to the plate [of De Wit, first state, 1675], but 'JAMES/ISLE DE JAQUES' is engraved centrally; 'BAYE D'HUDSON' is added; 'Fol. 26' is engraved in the top right corner just outside the neat-line [McMaster's copy has "Fol. 28"], and numerous place names are added. The place names around the western and southern shore of Hudson Bay (Fort Bourbon, Fort de Neusavvane etc.) are engraved the right way up and contrast visually with the original names which were all engraved upside down." Donated by Dr. Franc Joubin.
