This sheet depicts the dedication of the map to Joseph II, Holy Roman Emperor (1765-1790), ruler of the Hapsburg monarchy and Austrian Empire, also known as "The Great Reformer." Cherubs engaged in the Arts and Sciences surround the scene. Joseph is surmounted by the imperial eagle. A military encampment is depicted in the background complete with tents, cavalry, and supply wagons. A Robert Clifford ownership label is affixed to the verso.
