An accurate map of the County of Lancaster divided into its hundreds, laid down from the best authorities
Description
Printed map. "By Eman: Bowen Geogr. to His Majesty". Visual scale [94 mm = 12 British Statute Miles approximately]. Several paragraphs of information about the county, its cities, towns, lake, industry, etc. placed all around the map. List of seats of nobility and short historical list of the Earls and Dukes of Lancaster. Described in Smith, Antique Maps of the British Isles, entry 14, pp.108-113. McMaster's copy was probably produced as a separate sheet, before the publication of The Large English Atlas. McMaster's copy is missing the "sold by" note in margin which might distinguish the publishing date. Described in Chubb, Printed Maps in the Atlases of Great Britain and Ireland, entry CXCV, map 12, pp.157-159. Same map as later included in The Large English Atlas.
