Printed map. "Survey'd in 1774 by Iohn Chapman". Two visual scales [124 mm = 5 statute miles]. Cartouche features the "Green Dale Oak", which was large enough in 1724 for the Duke of Portland to drive a coach and six right through it, after it had been hollowed out. The dimensions of the arch were measured at 10' 3" high by 6' 3" wide in 1790. The hollowing caused the tree to start to decay and it is now dead and gone. Acquired as part of the Lord Cholmondely collection.
