GSGS series 4229. Second Edition (Coloured)-AMS 2. Copied from an Italian Istituto Geografico Militare map dated 1909 and 1936 with principal communications revised to 1939 using air photos. Compiled by the U.S. Army Map Service but photolithographed by the British Ordnance Survey in 1943. Reproduced under the direction of the Chief of Engineers by the Army Map Service. Road classification is NOT based on reconnsissance, reliability is uncertain. Information shown in black is taken from smaller scale material and its position is approximate. The meridians are based on the meridian of Rome, which is 12 degrees, 27 minutes and 7.1 seconds east of Greenwich. Contours at 50 metres (V.I.). South Italy Grid (Blue).
