An O.W. Kerr Co.'s Excursion to Sunny Southern Alberta.
Front: O.W. Kerr Land Company of Minneapolis. The village was named for A.L. Warner, land agent. 1907 the name of the village of Brunton Siding was changed to Warner, in honour of A.L. Warner, head of the O.W. Kerr Land Company of Minneapolis. It was the O.W. Kerr land company (working with the Alberta Railway & Coal Co. – the Galt Company) that really helped in the settlement of land in the early days in the Warner area. In 1906 the O.W. Kerr company signed an agreement to purchase land in the Warner area from the Galt company and encouraged settlers to move to its new community. The company would run sleeping cars filled with homesteaders from Iowa, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Nebraska and other states to encourage them to choose Warner as the place they wanted to farm and live.
